Bio:

Mindy Stricke is an award-winning photographer and interdisciplinary community artist whose collaborative practice blends photography, documentary audio, writing, collage, sculpture, and performance. Her most recent project, Grief Landscapes, a photographic exploration of people’s experiences with grief and bereavement, was awarded a 2016 Visual Arts Grant from the Ontario Arts Council. Her previous series of participatory art projects, Greetings From Motherland, brought mothers together to make work that challenged traditional representations of motherhood, and was awarded grants from the Toronto Arts Council, the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. The Greetings From Motherland project Good Eater was featured in At The Table: Mothers Sharing Their Stories Through Art, a documentary short by filmmaker Brijetta Hall Waller. Mindy's photographs and installations have been exhibited throughout North America, and featured in The New York Times, Time, Newsweek, Japan’s Voce, Toronto Star, Modern Loss, What’s Your Grief, and the Smithsonian Institute Photography Initiative’s book and online exhibit, Click! Photography Changes Everything. Originally from New York, she now lives in Toronto with her partner and two children.
